Toddlers can be so much fun to watch, I especially love the way they come waltzing into a room like they own it. Toddlers are known to go into their parents’ rooms without knocking, opening the door with a bang and jumping straight on their parents’ beds. They don’t care if its new sheets on the bed, they will get on it with their dirty shoes still on. They don’t care whether that mum or dad is ready to wake up, they’re awake, and so mum needs to be awake. They feel welcome, they feel loved, they’re happy to be with mum and dad, to share their day, to ask for breakfast, to do whatever.
As God’s children we need to know we are welcome to talk with God, to share our day, to be in His throne room, we do not shrink away because of fear or shame or whatever personal things that we want to call our ‘dirty shoes’. No we come boldly! Childlike, trusting, knowing we are loved, knowing we are accepted, knowing we are His children and He is our Father, knowing He will take care of us. He will make us pancakes if we are hungry, take off our shoes if they’re dirty, tickle us to make us giggle. God loves us much more than any earthly parent can love their child. Think about it…so much more.
So come. Because God loves you… come. Because Christ washed you… come. Because Jesus is your high priest… COME BOLDLY!
Because of Christ and our faith in him (or his faithfulness), we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. (Ephesians 3:11-12 NLT)
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:15-16 NIV)
