In the world we live in, with so many people feeling unseen, unheard, unnoticed, and unimportant. We need to constantly remind ourselves that with Jesus, there’s no such thing as unnoticed or unimportant. Whether you look at the ‘Parable of the Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10)’ or the ‘Parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:4-7)’, He knows when one goes missing. I really don’t know many people who will have a hundred of anything and immediately know when it becomes ninety-nine. But that’s how The Good Shepherd is.
In the movie ‘Home Alone (1990)’, with so many family members traveling, one child (played by Macaulay Culkin) got left behind. They forgot him in the busyness of travelling. That is impossible with our Lord the Good Shepherd. He sees us, can never forget us, loves us, knows everything about us, knows every single hair on our unique heads, every line that makes our thumbprint, the minute details of our lives…everything! So next time someone wants to make you feel like an unimportant or unworthy part of your church, God’s work, your family, or anything at all, remind yourself that God loves everybody… and then especially me. Live with that consciousness and be blessed.
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)
For You formed my inward parts, You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm139:13-14)
